There's another service at Logan International Airport's International Departures Terminal that's sure to make at least a few travelers, age 18 and older, kick up their heels.
The new 24-hour Hudson newsstand in Terminal E is now an official agent for the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission. Located on the ground level, passengers and greeters alike can try their luck betting on the state's popular games, including Instant, Numbers, Megabucks, Mass Cash, Mass Millions and BIG Game Tickets.
"Lottery sales are a perfect complement to Hudson's 24-hour newsstand operation in the new terminal," said Mike Caro, Vice President of BAA Boston, Inc., the developer and manager of the retail program in Terminals B, D and E at Logan. "It's another amenity that we're delighted to offer our customers at the airport. All bets are on that the service is going to be a big hit with travelers."
"As the new Logan Airport emerges, we are providing the small amenities that can make every vacation or business flight a little bit better," said Massport CEO Craig P. Coy. "A good meal, a short wait in line, and a winning lottery ticket can combine for a fantastic trip through Logan - and for a great story back home. I congratulate BAA Boston for giving customers a chance to win."
While the odds may be one in a million for the games' top prizes, there's a winner every day. In fact, on August 15, the first day of lottery sales at Hudson in the new terminal, an airport employee, who tried out one of the new instant lottery machines, walked away with $500 in winnings.
