Charitable Giving Programs
Massport runs several programs to improve quality of life for the people in our communities.
Massport’s Charitable Contribution Program
The Massport Charitable Contribution Program was established by the Board of Directors to fund programs that can demonstrate a positive impact on our local communities. Each year, Massport receives many requests for donations to worthwhile programs. Through the Charitable Contribution Program, we are able to fund local non-profit programs that improve the quality of life for the people in those communities.
The Charitable Contribution Committee meets monthly to review grant requests. All requests are due to Audrey Nagle, Manager of Charitable Giving Programs, via email by the first Friday of the month to be considered at that month’s meeting. For more information about the program, including the Charitable Contribution questionnaire and a list of required documentation, please email Audrey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Massport’s Community Summer Jobs Program
For over 30 years, Massport has proudly supported local students and organizations. The annual Community Summer Jobs Program is designed to help civic and social service agencies by providing funds to hire youth workers in Massport’s neighboring communities, including Bedford, Charlestown, Chelsea, Concord, East Boston, Lexington, Lincoln, Revere, South Boston, Winthrop and Worcester.
Without the assistance of Massport’s Community Summer Jobs Program, many local organizations would not be able to offer affordable summer programs to local residents. Since 1991, over 8,000 local students have gained valuable work experience in various jobs, including camp counselor, office assistant, maintenance worker and lifeguard, paid for by the grant.
Massport Employees Give Back
In addition to making financial contributions to neighborhood organizations, Massport’s employees participate in a number of activities in our communities. We have been pleased to participate in and to sponsor community organizations and activities that bring residents together, support children and families and help strengthen our neighboring communities.
Annual Backpack Drive
In the fall, local children in need start the school year with a new backpack filled with school supplies and new clothes, thanks to the generosity of Massport employees. Over the years, Massport has helped hundreds of children start the school year in a positive way with these donations.
In the spring, Massport employees participate in the City of Boston’s Love Your Block annual neighborhood cleanup.
Annual Coat Drive
Massport employees help local children stay warm through the winter months by providing new winter coats through the Winter Coat Drive for Children.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
At Thanksgiving, Massport employees provide food donations to local community food pantries: Crossroads Family Center and East Boston Community Soup Kitchen in East Boston; South Boston Community Health Center Food Pantry; Veterans Inc. in Worcester; and the Winthrop Community Food Pantry.
