3 East Boston Students Awarded Massport Memorial Scholarships
Awards will help local students attend college
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today announced the recipients of the annual scholarships honoring the memory of longtime employees Deborah Hadden Gray, Donna Rauseo and Lowell L. Richards III. The 2025 scholarships were awarded to East Boston residents Dominic Jorge, Madelina Vivas and Teagen Scarpa.
“We’re excited to award three Massport Memorial Scholarships to outstanding students from East Boston,” said Massport CEO Rich Davey. “Dominic, Madelina, and Teagen have demonstrated both academic excellence and a strong dedication to their community. I’m eager to see all they accomplish in the years ahead.”
Dominic Jorge: 2025 Deborah Hadden Gray Memorial Scholarship Recipient
The Deborah Hadden Gray Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a high school student who is a resident of the City of Boston, Chelsea, Revere or Winthrop. Hadden Gray worked for Massport for 20 years and served as Port Director from 2012-2015. She had a tremendous impact on Massport’s Maritime mission and was a strong advocate for the working port, and the jobs and businesses it supported, while carefully balancing the priorities of the South Boston community.
Dominic is a graduate of Boston Latin Academy and he will soon attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has worked at the Piers Park Sailing Center for three years, is a member of the Boston Latin Academy Track and Field team and student council.
Madelina Vivas: 2025 Donna Rauseo Memorial Scholarship Recipient
The Donna Rauseo Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who resides in East Boston. Rauseo was a graduate of East Boston High School and for more than 20 years was the executive assistant to Thomas J. Kinton, Jr. when he served as Aviation Director of Logan Airport and later as CEO and Executive Director for Massport.
Madelina is a graduate of East Boston High School and will soon attend Messina College at Boston College. She has been a member of the Key Club at East Boston High School, worked as a Climate Corps Fellow at Eastie Farm and participated in the Early College program, earning 12 college credits while still in high school.
Teagen Scarpa: 2025 Lowell L. Richards III Memorial Scholarship Recipient
The Lowell Richards Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who resides in the City of Boston, Chelsea, Revere or Winthrop. Richards was responsible for Massport’s strategic and master planning activities, including the airports and the seaport, as well as the agency’s private commercial and residential real estate development in South Boston, East Boston, and Charlestown. Richards joined Massport in 1999 and was previously the Assistant Secretary of Administration and Finance and Chief Development Officer for the Commonwealth and Deputy Mayor for Fiscal Affairs and Collector-Treasurer in the City of Boston.
Teagen is a graduate of Boston Latin School and will soon attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has volunteered as a youth soccer referee and with the Salesian Boys and Girls Club and is a member of the Boston Latin School Italian Club.
Massport Memorial Scholarship applications are judged by a committee made up of Massport employees and a representative of the late employee’s family. Students interested in applying for the 2026 scholarship should visit www.massport.com for eligibility requirements
