In 2008, the Massachusetts Port Authority installed an automated gate at the Maverick Street access point to Logan Airport. The purpose of this gate is to reduce traffic, especially airport-related commercial vehicles, in the Jeffries Point and Gove Street neighborhoods of East Boston.

Only East Boston residents are permitted to pass through the Maverick Street Gate. In order to operate the gate, East Boston residents must use a Massport-issued access card. All East Boston residents are encouraged to apply for an access card for each registered vehicle in their household. You may apply for a separate access card for each vehicle by completing and signing the Maverick Street Gate Access Card application form.
