Welcome to a sustainable Massport! There are many opportunities for travelers and employees to make sustainable choices and help to protect the environment!
Sustainable Transportation
Massport is implementing a comprehensive program to promote sustainable transportation and reduce the overall environmental and emissions impacts of travel to and from the Airport. Massport strongly encourages the use of clean transportation modes, such as High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), by passengers, employees, and business partners.
Green Ways to Travel to and From Boston Logan
CleanAir CABS
CleanAir CABS, a collaboration between Massport and the City of Boston, provides head-of-line privileges to encourage the use of low-emission, alternative fueled, mainly hybrid, vehicles for taxi service. To reduce your carbon footprint, speak to an attendant at the taxi stand and request a Clean-Air CAB, such as a hybrid vehicle).
Logan Express
Travel comfortably with the Logan Express convenient coach bus service to Boston Logan from park-and-ride lots in Braintree, Framingham, Woburn and Peabody. Logan Express has full-service bus terminals and secure parking at each location, with direct service to all terminals.
Clean Fuel Vehicle Preferred Parking
At Boston Logan, there are more than 170 designated, preferred parking spaces for customers that drive electric vehicles (includes hybrid and all electric) and alternative-fuel vehicles (AFVs). Alternative fuels are vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), propane or hydrogen.
Ride-Sharing
Massport has implemented a plan for consolidated drop-off and pick-up which is better for Uber and Lyft customers and drivers, provides new and expanded HOV/Logan Express options, reduces congestion for all passengers, and is better for the environment. The new covered Ride App TNC drop-off and pickup areas for the terminals will eliminate over 1.5 million car trips through the tunnels at Boston Logan.
Walk or Bike
Every terminal is accessible from the East Boston neighborhood by sidewalks and pathways. There are bike racks available located around the Airport, such as at Terminals A and E, Economy Parking Garage, Rental Car Center, Airport MBTA Station, at the Greenway Connector and in Bremen Street Park. Hubway, the bike-sharing system in Metro Boston, has stations in East Boston.
Rental Car Center
Centralizing all our rental options into one car rental center saves energy and is more convenient for all.
Sustainable Employee Commuting Initiatives
Airport employees often have non-traditional, dynamic working hours that are difficult to match to typical transit service. Massport continues to enhance opportunities and encourage employees to commit to making their daily commutes more sustainable. This includes offering incentives for using HOV modes, recognizing employees that are committed to reducing their carbon footprints, and more.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations
Massport offers complimentary electric vehicle charging station use. Normal parking rates apply and there is no cost for electricity use. To date, Massport has installed over 100 EV charging ports for hybrid and all-electric vehicles and plans to continue expanding charging infrastructure over the next few years. Please visit Chargepoint.com for real-time availability.
Shuttle Buses
Massport provides free shuttle bus services between terminals, the Rental Car Center, the water shuttle, parking garages, and Airport Station on the MBTA Blue Line. Massport operates a fleet of Compressed Natural Gas shuttle buses as part of an ongoing, broader effort to reduce emissions associated with Massport’s fleet by switching to more environmentally friendly alternatives.
