Worcester Scores a Double Eagle with Direct Air
Worcester Regional Airport Connects Central MA to Golf Mecca with Non-Stop Service to Myrtle Beach and Year Round Service to Florida

Worcester Regional Airport is now requesting tee times in celebration of Direct Air's new non-stop service to Myrtle Beach starting Thursday, March 12. In addition to this new destination for golf and family vacations, Direct Air has announced that they are extending their seasonal Florida service from Worcester to Orlando/Sanford and Punta Gorda / Ft Myers, to year round service.

Direct Air is celebrating this announcement by offering special fares through its Family Ties program. This unique program allows travelers the privilege of purchasing as many as 20 deeply discounted flight certificates without specifying travel dates or passengers. The tickets make excellent gifts and can be used by the purchaser as well as his/her friends and family. Vouchers are valid through October 30, 2009 and are useable in any of the cities currently served by Direct Air. Family Ties certificates will be available for purchase online at www.visitdirectair.com beginning Wednesday, March 18th through Wednesday, March 20th.

"This is a great opportunity for families to make plans for vacations that might otherwise not be affordable," said Direct Air President, Ed Warneck. "We wanted to do something special to celebrate our third year of service." "What better way than giving our clients and families something special." all need something to look forward to and who doesn't look forward to a vacation."

Direct Air has been serving Worcester since November 2008 with non-stop flights to Florida. Direct Air flies aircraft leased from Virgin America with all leather seats, plasma televisions, touch service screens, satellite radio and telephone and computer connectivity at each seat. The flights are staffed by Virgin America flight crews. Initial service to Myrtle Beach will be offered on a DC 9 aircraft before the airline transitions to the A-319 aircraft.

Myrtle Beach, which calls itself the golf capital of the world, is where some of the highest quality golf courses in the nation can be found. Golf Digest Magazine recently named 10 of Myrtle Beach's courses to the "Top 100 Public Golf Courses in America" list for the 2007 -- 2008 season. Aside from golf, Myrtle Beach also offers an array of activities to suit any need; from attractions like the Ripley's Aquarium, Hard Rock Amusement Park, and NASCAR to shopping and water sports.

"Worcester residents and area college students will soon be enjoying the convenience of weekly service to Myrtle Beach and year round service to Florida where the focus is on fun for people of all ages," said Worcester Airport Director Andy Davis. "ith Direct Air's non-stop flights, you can practice or play golf in a family friendly environment or head to some of the most challenging courses in the world."

Worcester Regional Airport serves Worcester County, the second fastest growing county in Massachusetts, along with the Boston Metro West region and the bustling Interstate 495 corridor. Worcester Regional Airport offers travelers comfort and accessibility and features four jet way gates, two ramp level gates, baggage carousels and a TSA installed passenger and baggage screening system.
