The United Kingdom's largest magazine and book retailer, WH Smith PLC, has landed a five-year contract to operate as many as six news and gift shops at Logan Airport in Terminal B.
"Bolstering the airport's retail business is an important ingredient in the Authority's overall mix to provide quality customer service at Logan Airport," Massport CEO Craig Coy said.
WH Smith plans to remodel and add new stores over the next 18 to 24 months. Plans call for about 4,000 square feet of space to be dedicated to premier news and gift shops.
The contract is with BAA Boston, Inc. the developer and manager of the retail space in terminals B, D and E. They are a part of BAA USA, the US affiliate of BAA PLC, which owns and operates airports in the United Kingdom, including London's Heathrow and Gatewick Airports.
