Please be advised that resurfacing of the roadways on the upper deck of the Tobin Bridge will continue throughout this weekend and is anticipated through next week requiring alternating lane closures. Work will occur these last two weeks in August to take advantage of what has historically been known as low travel weeks with less commuters traveling over the Tobin Bridge.
Originally the Tobin Bridge Deck Rehab Project was scheduled to take place over an 8-week period in July, but due to the unexpected tunnel closures, and re-routing of traffic in and out of Boston the timetable has been modified and condensed to minimize the disruption period while expediting the work.
Over the next several days, roadway milling and paving work will take place at times during the day and evening so as not to disrupt drivers during peak commute hours. Work on the Tobin Bridge is expected to run continuously with anticipated completion occurring before the Labor Day rush of high traffic volume.
Commuters are advised to refer to traffic advisories, and local and major media outlets for scheduled lane closure changes and project status reports.
All work is contingent upon weather conditions.
