The Tobin Bridge Beacon Street off-ramp will close Monday, September 23, at 7 a.m., as the painting project resumes on the bridge. This $2.7 million undertaking is Phase V of a nine-phase paint project.
The ramp will close in order to treat the structural steel on the underside of the upper level. The work includes abrasive cleaning, containment, air quality monitoring and painting.
Beginning Monday at 7 a.m. A traffic and safety management program includes:
- Reflector drum barrels
- Traffic will be reduced to two lanes.
- A protective vehicle will be at the top of the Beacon Street off ramp.
- Beyond Beacon Street traffic resumes three lanes.
- An electronic sign reading: "Beacon St. off-ramp closed", will be in place at the old toll plaza, lower deck.
- State Police will be on site.
The work is expected to take up to four weeks. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. No noisy work will begin before 7:30 a.m. or continue after 5 p.m.
