Logan International Airport's Terminal E scored second to the top in the "Best Food & Beverage Program" category for large airports by Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA), a leading industry trade association. The winners of the 6th annual Excellence in Airport Concessions Contest were announced last week at the ACI-NA Economic Specialty Conference in Tucson, Arizona.
The Massachusetts Port Authority and developer BAA Boston, Inc. were on hand to accept the award. The airport is eligible to enter the 2004 Richard A. Griesbach Award of Excellence, which is awarded to one airport for overall concessions program excellence.
Entries were judged on a variety of criteria, from goals and use of concepts/branding to design and layout, customer service and performance. The independent panel of judges was comprised of professionals in food service, retail mall development, consumer groups, advertising, architecture and academic communities, and a representative from the previous year's overall winner.
BAA's food and beverage program in Terminal E includes a food court with McDonald's, Wok&Roll, Au Bon Pain, and Sbarro. In addition, Dine Boston Cafi and Grill and Dine Boston Cafi have opened in the main ticketing hall. A Houlihan's is also set to open in Terminal E.
