The Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs issued a MEPA Certificate for the Environmental Notification Form filed by American Airlines for the renovation and of rebuilding of Terminal B at Logan Airport. The Secretary acknowledged that American's filing was "generally appropriate and can form the basis for the environmental review under MEPA."
The Secretary's certificate outlined the areas that must be studied in greater detail in the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR), including:
- Use of alternative fuel vehicles at American's facility;
- Creation of a transportation demand analyses to reduce impacts of employee transportation to and from Logan;
- A stormwater management program:
- Noise analyses for current facility and improved facility; and
- Sustainable design elements that can be incorporated into the facility.
Once the additional analysis has been completed, American will file a DEIR, which will be followed by a public comment and review period.
