The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) and Spirit Airlines today announced the inauguration of non-stop service from Boston's Logan International Airport to Detroit, Michigan and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Spirit now offers twice daily, non-stop service to Detroit, non-stop service to Myrtle Beach, as well as connecting service to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

"Our full flights today are a testament to the popularity of Spirit's low fare, full-frills service," said Lynne Koreman, Senior Director of Communications of Spirit Airlines. "Whether it's a leisure trip to the hit the greens in Myrtle Beach or business in Detroit, Spirit will get you there - non-stop and in style in our fleet of new Airbus planes, the youngest Airbus fleet in the Americas."

"We are extremely pleased that Spirit Airlines has started daily service from Logan International Airport to Myrtle Beach and Detroit," said Massport Executive Director and CEO, Thomas J. Kinton. "Spirit has a reputation as a high value, low cost air carrier whose presence at Logan will result in more choices and competitive fares for our customers."

These new flights will be served with Spirit Airbus A319 aircraft holding 138 passengers. Spirit is located at Boston Logan's Terminal B.
