Public Hearings On Tobin Bridge Toll Increase; Set For September In Chelsea And Charlestown

The Massachusetts Port Authority will conduct public hearings on the proposed Toll increases on the Tobin Bridge effective January 3, 2002.

The Resident Commuter Permit rates will remain the same and payable by electronic toll collection only. The rates for all other vehicles will be increased by $1.00 and each additional axle is $1.00. The proposed rate chart is included below.

The public is invited to present oral or written comments regarding the new regulations at the hearing held in:

Charlestown
Date September 19, 2001
Time 7:00 to 10 P.M.
Location Upper Hall, Knights of Columbus Hall
75 West School St.

Chelsea
Date September 20, 2001
Time 7:00 to 10 P.M.
Location Auditorium, Chelsea High School
299 Everett Ave.

Scheduled speaking times at the hearing are advisable but not required and may be made by contacting Deborah Lau Kee at Massport's Legal Department,  617-568-3142 .

Class 1 - Passenger - 4 Axles 3.00
Commercial & All Other Registrations
Class 2 - Commercial - 2 Axles 3.00
Class 3 - Commercial - 3 Axles 4.00
Class 4 - Commercial - 4 Axles 5.00
Class 5 - Commercial - 5 Axles 6.00
Class 6 - Commercial - 6 Axles 7.00

Each Additional Axle: $1.00
* Resident Commuter Tolls payable by electronic toll collection only
