Due to complaints of increased vehicular traffic through the Maverick Street Gate, the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) will increase enforcement of the gate policy during the hours of 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in order to reduce congestion and the number of cars on neighborhood streets. The stricter enforcement will begin on Monday, April 17, 2000.
East Boston residents using the Maverick Street Gate between the hours of 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, must have one of the following:
- An East Boston residents sticker issued from Boston City Hall. Please call the Office of the Parking Clerks Resident Parking Division at 635-4410 for information on obtaining a sticker.
- A clearly displayed orange Fast Lane transponder signifying East Boston residency.
- A Mass Pike Residents Program sticker.
Last year, Massport installed a video monitoring system atop of the De Fronzo Senior Center to ensure proper gate use. In addition, a form to report violations is available at monthly meetings of the Jeffries Point Neighborhood Association and directly from Derek Brodin, Massport Office of Government & Community Affairs, at 568-3712. Please feel free to contact Derek Brodin with any questions or comments. As always, Massport will continue to restrict the use of the gate by all commercial vehicles.
