The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) announced that beginning Wednesday, March 1, Logan will be a simpler airport to use when the three gates at Terminal D, used by Air Tran Airways, will be renumbered to become part of Terminal C.
"This is part of a wider effort to assist Logan's passengers to navigate throughout the airport," said Massport's Director of Aviation Thomas J. Kinton, Jr. "Customer surveys indicate that a more efficient and understandable terminal layout would make trips to the airport easier and more customer friendly." With only three gates, Terminal D is more like an annex to Terminal C than a fully functioning terminal. In 2007, Massport will complete this effort when Logan's International Gateway is designated Terminal D.
As part of Massport's efforts, nearly 200 signs will be replaced throughout the airport terminals, garages and roadways. This includes updating Massport's website and prerecorded announcements in the terminals, walkways and buses.
