The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) and boat operators serving Logan Airport will provide a special rate on all water services to and from Logan Airport on Tuesday, June 19. In recognition of Water Transportation Awareness Week, passengers riding any of the three services at Logan: the Airport Water Shuttle, the Harbor Express or the City Water Taxi may take a friend for half the rate when they pay the regular fare.
The third annual Water Transportation Awareness Week aims to increase the visibility of water services in the harbor and is sponsored by Massport, as well as many other state agencies, local transportation management associations and private boat operators.
"Traveling to and from Logan Airport by way of the harbor is not only fast and convenient, but pleasant and relaxing," said Virginia Buckingham, Massport Executive Director and CEO. "It's a wonderful alternative to battling traffic."
At Logan Airport, Shuttle buses make regular stops at the water dock, all airport terminals and the MBTA station. On Tuesday, June 19th Massport is offering complimentary coffee and donuts from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the water dock pavilion as well as complimentary cookies and cold drinks from 3:00 6:00 p.m.
From the Logan dock, the Airport Water Shuttle departs every 15 minutes, taking passengers to Rowes Wharf in just seven minutes. Harbor Express serves the South Shore and operates from Quincys Fore River Shipyard making direct connections between Logan Airport and Long Wharf. The City Water taxi is an on-call water service connecting the Logan dock with 12 landings in harbor.
