Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) Director of Aviation Thomas J. Kinton, Jr. has been named the first-ever recipient of the New England Business Travel Association (NEBTA) Award for Leadership and Professional Excellence. Kinton received the award on November 15th during a meeting with association members.
The goal of the newly established award is to:
- thank and recognize the contributions and achievements of members of the travel industry or those whose work impacts the industry,
- inspire travel professionals and those whose work impacts the industry to strive for the levels of excellence and achievement represented by the award and,
- in a positive way, to increase the visibility of the travel industry, its many professional inter-relationships and the New England Business Travel Association.
Specifically, Kinton was credited for his professionalism, keeping association members updated and informed, and his honesty and leadership. He has been Massport's Director of Aviation since 1993, overseeing Logan International Airport, Hanscom Field in Bedford and Worcester Regional Airport. In that role, he has been a national leader on aviation security, efficient airport operations and the development of regional transportation strategies. During his tenure, Logan has undergone its largest modernization in history with more than $4 billion in infrastructure investments. By 2005, these vital improvements will result in a more modern, secure and efficient gateway for New England travelers.
