The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), the Massachusetts State Police at Logan International Airport and the United States Marine Corps., this week, kicked off the 2005 season's Toys For Tots program. The State Police will gratefully accept unwrapped toys for the Toys For Tots campaign at their South Boston offices, located on the second floor of Massport's Black Falcon Cruise Terminal until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2005. Cash donations are also welcome.

"It is our collective responsibility to make a difference in the lives of children," said Craig Coy, Massport CEO. "For nearly a half century Toys For Tots has been giving gifts to youngsters during the holiday season. Massport is pleased to continue to support this charity, and to once again partner with the State Police at Logan International Airport and the United States Marine Corps. in sponsoring the Toys For Tots program."

The State Police at Logan Airport have sponsored the Toys For Tots drive for several years, contributing thousands of toys to thousands of children each year.

This year marks the United States Marine Corps. 58th annual Toys For Tots campaign. In addition to striving to reach millions of needy children nationwide, Marines will strive to bring the joy of Christmas to the thousands of children whose families lost everything as a result of the hurricanes of the summer of 2005.

Since 1947, when Toys For Tots was created, the goal has been to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy children that will help inspire them to grow into responsible, productive community leaders. From 1947 through 2004, the United State Marine Corps. distributed over 332.5 million toys to more than 158.8 million needy children.

The United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted
