Boston Logan International Airport Continues to Improve Customer Experience
New Mobile Site Supports Travelers Seeking Airport-Related Information
BOSTON – The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) recently launched a mobile-friendly version of www.flylogan.com for iPhone, iPad, Android, and BlackBerry devices. Now with the touch of a thumb, travelers can access airport-and flight-related information to make their Logan travel experience a lot more efficient.
“Individuals using smart phones and mobile devices to connect with flylogan.com grew last year by more than 100 percent,” said David S. Mackey, Massport’s Interim CEO & Executive Director. “Optimizing our website for airport-related mobile traffic was a customer service priority. We can now assist our travelers wherever they may be with the real-time information they are looking for on-the-fly.”
The easy-to-navigate site includes content such as directions to the airport, flight status, locations of ATMs, and shopping and dining choices located in the terminals. The site also offers real-time arrival information for the MBTA’s Silver Line to South Station from each terminal, and parking updates and options.
Massport.com gets roughly 5 million visitors a year, with the majority of them seeking airport-related information and updates. More than 12 percent access the site with a mobile device. In the last year, the number of visitors connecting to massport.com using smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices has jumped roughly 109 percent to 632,015 from 301,970 the previous year.
The mobile-optimized site was created by Massport’s IT Department at a cost of about $77,000.
