The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today announced that Logan International Airport will soon offer passengers access to a high speed wireless Internet system, providing another key customer service to more than 22 million travelers a year. The system will allow passengers to log onto the Internet, send e-mail, or check real-time flight information through a laptop computer, PDA, or mobile phone. Available throughout the entire airport, the wireless network also will offer enhanced opportunities to the airlines, airport shops and restaurants, and Massport.

"In addition to providing our customers with the latest in passenger terminals, walkways, garages, and roadways, we are also focused on providing world-class service," said Massport CEO Craig P. Coy. A wireless system ensures that our customers can make the best use of their time at the airport by checking the Internet or sending an e-mail. We also expect airport tenants and airlines to take advantage of this system and explore the possibilities of new amenities such as wireless check-in.

The high-speed network is expected to be operational by summer 2004. Logan Airport is undergoing a $4.4 billion modernization that already has resulted in a new international departures hall, climate-controlled walkways to all terminals, a new hotel, and expanded parking facilities.
