Boston Logan Reaches for the Stars
Award honors employees who go above and beyond the call of duty

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) recently announced its newest Logan Stars. The “Logan Stars’’ award program is held twice a year to honor non-Massport airport employees and aviation business partners who extend extraordinary effort in serving the airport community and its customers. This month’s award ceremony was held May 26 at Terminal E. The honor was created by Massport’s Aviation division in 2008 to give Logan’s nearly 11,000 employees the opportunity to recognize their peers for superior individual achievement

“Logan Stars honors those employees who go above and beyond in their daily routine, making all of us proud to work alongside them,” said Massport’s Director of Aviation Edward C. Freni. “It’s because of individuals like these working collectively with Massport, that Boston Logan owes its national reputation as a safe, secure, cutting-edge and customer-focused airport that truly cares about the people who use us every day.”

The award is designed to recognize the contributions of Logan employees in five separate categories:
•   Providing exceptional customer service.
•   Engaging in an act of heroism.
•   Improving safety or security.
•   Increasing operational efficiency or excellence in a way that benefits the Logan community, and
•   Creating innovations or new work processes that benefit the Logan community as a whole.

Receiving the “Logan Stars” award for exceptional customer service were: Special Agent Timothy Darling, Federal Bureau of Investigation; Renato DaSilva, Unicco Service Company; Julia Gunn, Centers for Disease Control; Robert Haley, Boston Emergency Medical Services; Gary Hufnagle, Federal Aviation Administration; Andrew Klevos, Centers for Disease Control; Lt. Commander Paul Lattanzi, U.S. Coast Guard; James McLoughlin, Massachusetts Environmental Management Agency; Sharon Quinn, Hudson News; Brendan Riley, Federal Aviation Administration; Michael Russas, Massachusetts Environmental Management Agency; Bob Sgroi, Federal Aviation Administration; and James Watkins, Centers for Disease Control.

In recognition of individual Massport employees who have made a major work accomplishment to the Authority as a whole, Massport sponsors an “Outstanding Achievement Award” for superior contributions made by Authority employees.
