Concurrent with cruiseship sailings on July 9th, July 14th and July 16th, Boston will be hosting Sail Boston 2000, an impressive gathering of tall ships from around the world. The waterfront area where the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal (BFCT) is located will serve as a major area of operations for Sail Boston, providing docking for many of the ships and attracting thousands of visitors daily. As a result, direct access to the BFCT for cruise passengers will be restricted, with many roadways closed to vehicular traffic. Sail Boston will also affect parking and street access in the waterfront areas of East Boston, South Boston and the North End.

A special transportation plan has been instituted for cruise passengers to ensure access to the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. All passengers traveling between July 9th and July 16th should have received transit placards, which, when shown with cruise tickets, will allow access through public safety checkpoints to a special cruiseship parking and pick-up/drop-off at the Fargo Street Terminal Lot. Cruise passengers are also advised to add 2-3 hours to their travel time.
