The Massport Employees’ Retirement System (MPAERS) is administered by a five-member board consisting of one ex-officio member, two elected members, one member appointed by Massport, and one member appointed by the four board members. The retirement staff manage the day to day operations of the Retirement System.
James S. Hoyte was elected to the retirement board in January 2015. He was Massport’s Secretary-Treasurer and Director of Administration and Finance when the MPAERS was established in 1978. Jamie is currently Of Counsel to ADS Ventures, Inc. and In-House Advisor to Northbridge CRE Advisors. He was Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs, 1983-1988 and Chairman of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, 1985-1988. From 1992 to 2009 Jamie served as Associate Vice President and Lecturer in Environmental Sciences and Public Policy at Harvard University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
Michael A. Grieco, Massport’s Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, was appointed to the retirement board in 1996. Prior to joining the Authority in 1990, Michael held administrative and finance positions with the City of Boston and the Town of Watertown. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College and a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University.
Michael P. O’Brien started as a cashier in Massport’s parking garage in 1994. Mike is currently a skilled laborer in the field maintenance unit at Logan Airport and also works as the Teamsters Local 25 union representative to more than 450 Massport employees at Logan and Worcester airports and Hanscom Field. Mike also serves on the boards of the New England Teamsters Federal Credit Union and the Local 25 Autism Fund. He was elected as an employee representative to the Massport Employees’ Retirement System Board in April 2019.
John P. Pranckevicius is Massport’s Chief Financial Officer and Secretary-Treasurer since 2007. John oversees Massport’s financial responsibilities including treasury, budgeting, accounting, finance, and debt and risk management. Additionally, John serves as Treasurer-Custodian over $850 million in invested assets for Massport’s employee pension and retiree health care programs.
Prior to joining the Authority, John served in various financial roles in the City of Worcester, most recently as the City’s Chief Financial Officer. John is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and his Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Maine. He holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Bentley University.
Betsy Taylor was elected as an employee representative to the retirement board in 2013. She joined Massport in 1978 and has held a variety of financial positions. Prior to her retirement on April 1, 2015, Betsy held the position of Massport’s Director of Finance and Treasury and was responsible for issuing Massport’s debt and managing its $800 million cash portfolio. She previously worked at UMass, Smith College and Lesley College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College and a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford University. MPAERS Staff
Irene E. Moran joined the Massachusetts Port Authority Employees’ Retirement System in 1995 as Retirement Board Assistant. She was promoted to the Director of Retirement position in 1997. Prior to her employment at Massport, Irene worked as a Support Manager for DataNational Corporation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire.
Kathryn A. Arazi joined Retirement in early September 2019 as the Retirement Board Coordinator. Kate has prior experience in both the public and private sector and most recently came from a client facing role at a small family-run recruiting firm in Boston. Prior to that, she worked for almost four years at the Town of Brookline in the Human Resources Department. She holds a Master of Science in Corporate and Organizational Communication from Northeastern University and first learned of Massport through teaching yoga at Pier's Park in East Boston. Kate lives in Revere with her husband Adam and their dog Braun. They love to go for hikes, travel and frequent farmers' markets.
Laura S. Barbosa joined the Massachusetts Port Authority Employees’ Retirement System in 1997 as Retirement Board Coordinator and currently holds the position of Retirement Member Services Specialist. Prior to that, Laura worked in both the Accounts Payable and Payroll departments at Massport. Laura participated in the Massport mentoring program in 1999 and received a Massport Outstanding Achievement Award in 2007.
Nancy Bournival joined the Massachusetts Port Authority Employees’ Retirement System in 1996 as Retirement Board Accountant. She currently holds the position of MPAERS Controller. Prior to joining Massport, she was an Auditor for State Street Bank & Trust. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University.
