Massport Approves Partial Budgets for Projects in Terminals C and E

Projects will improve passenger flow between terminals and provide new amenities for customers

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) Board today voted to approve two significant partial budgets for projects in Terminal C and E at Logan Airport. The first partial budget was for the Terminal E Modernization Capital Project at $100 million and the second partial budget was for the Terminal C Optimization and Terminal C to Terminal B Connector at $55 million.

The Terminal E Modernization project will combine new construction, renovations, and upgrades to the existing terminal to create a unified building in terms of passenger experience, operations and facilities. Seven additional gates will be added as part of the project in two phases, expanding Terminal E along with respective amenities to support the increased passenger volume. The project includes a new security checkpoint, substantial upgrades to the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) space, a ticketing hall, additional baggage, carousels and reconfiguration of the baggage claim hall, new holdroom spaces for new gates, new concession areas, and airline club spaces.

The new construction in Terminal E will include a 395,480 square foot building addition and renovations to the existing structure. On the departures level, a new 8-lane checkpoint will be constructed using new Automated Screening Lanes technology. As passengers move through the checkpoint, they will flow into a great space that will include new concessions, departure lounges and a vertical circulation core to access new airlines clubs on the fourth level overlooking the great space.

The second approved partial budget will go towards two exciting improvements to Terminals C. The Terminal C Optimization project involves the build-out of a new space to facilitate future JetBlue improvements. This project will also include construction of new restrooms, companion care and a pet relief space, as well as space for retail and dining. The other project, the Terminal C to Terminal B Connector, will connect the two terminals post-security and provide efficient passenger movement between terminals, new and repurposed pre and post-security passenger amenities, and administration space.
