Safety and security are the top priorities at Boston Logan. Massport’s Fire Rescue, Office of Corporate Security, and the Massachusetts State Police Troop F help us keep you safe.
Massport Fire Rescue
The Fire Rescue headquarters as well as a Fire Rescue satellite station are both located on Boston Logan International Airport’s airfield. Having two stations allows Fire Rescue personnel to respond to any aircraft emergency anywhere on the airfield in well under the three-minute mandated response time.
Massport’s Fire Rescue responsibilities include aircraft rescue and fire fighting, structural fire protection, hazardous materials response (Hazmat), emergency medical services, responding to off-shore emergencies in and around Boston Harbor with the Marine division, which includes the 80 foot Howard F. Fitzpatrick fireboat, as well as fire prevention and inspections. Massport Fire Rescue is part of the Massachusetts Metro Fire District and responds to surrounding communities on a mutual aid system.
Boston Logan’s state-of-the-art fire training facility is used by fire departments from all over the United States and Canada.
In Good Hands
Fire Rescue’s emergency medical services include the use of automated external defibrillators. The airport-wide defibrillator program at Boston Logan has helped save many lives.
Massport Fire Rescue also provides periodic training in CPR and First Aid to airport employees and a community outreach program that includes fire safety education for school children in neighboring communities.
