Worcester Regional Airport exterior

Located in New England’s fastest-growing city, Worcester Regional Airport is a strategic airport that has served the Central Massachusetts region for over 75 years. Formerly known as Worcester Municipal Airport, the airport began providing commercial service in 1946 with flights provided by Northeast Airlines.

In 2010, Massport purchased Worcester Regional Airport from the City of Worcester for $15.1 million. Since then, Massport has invested over $150 million in improvements at the airport, including a Category III Instrument Landing System completed in 2018. Two new jet bridges were installed in 2019, doubling the number to four. And in 2023, the airport’s primary runway was resurfaced and updated with energy-efficient LED runway lighting.

Today, Worcester Regional Airport is served by three major airlines—JetBlue, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. The airport remains a critical transportation hub connecting Central Massachusetts to the world and supports the region’s economy. According to the  Massachusetts Statewide  Airport Economic Impact Study Update, Worcester Regional Airport contributes nearly $97 million to the region’s economy and provides nearly 600 jobs.
