3. To pick up an empty container from the terminal, know your booking number, Shipping Line, size and type of container.

4. To deliver a full container to the terminal, know whether it is import or export cargo.
    If it is import:
    • Have a clear and legible delivery order
    • Know the steamship line responsible for the container
    If it is export:
    • Use Lanes marked EXPORTS ONLY, to have the container weighed
    • Have at least 4 clear and legible copies of the dock receipt
    • Know the steamship line responsible for the container
    • If it is a return from Customs Inspection, be sure to have the proper Customs documentation notify the pre-gate clerk that the container is returning from customs inspection.
Drivers should be aware of the status of any operating refrigeration equipment being delivered to the terminal.
5. To pick up a full container from the terminal:
  • Know the container number and to whom it belongs
  • Have your delivery order paperwork before arriving at the terminal
  • Be sure to have the proper Customs documentation
  • Ensure that the container has all releases prior to arriving at the terminal (Steamship Line, Customs, and/or USDA)
  • If the container is being picked up for export:
    • Have all steamship line releases and dock receipts BEFORE arriving at the terminal
    • If it is going for customs inspection, notify the pre-gate clerk that the container will be returned after Customs inspection

Speed Limits: Gate Area 5 MPH, Yard Area 10 MPH, Roadways 15 MPH.

Whenever picking up equipment, drivers must stop at the pre-gate area first. All bare chassis must be signed in to the yard with an interchange unless the chassis is clearly and permanently marked as owned by the trucking company.
