Massport's International Marketing Department is looking for Massachusetts and New England companies interested in doing business with South Korean companies.
A business development mission, organized by the Korean Small and Medium Industry Promotion Corp. (SMIPC) will bring representatives of approximately 30 Korean manufacturers, predominantly from the electronics and telecommunications industries, to Boston on March 1 for one-on-one appointments with local companies. The purpose is to seek new business relationships with New England firms for industrial distribution, contract manufacturing, marketing, joint venture partnerships, and technology transfer.
"Boston is especially appealing because of the strong electronics and telecommunications industries in the region. These Korean companies are eager to do business with the local companies that Massport's trade representatives are recruiting," said Charles Yelen, Massport managing director of international marketing.
Boston joins Chicago and Ottawa as the only three cities in the Northern Hemisphere visited by this Korean trade delegation.
"Koreas strong comeback from the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s makes it an attractive partner," said Yelen.
Local companies' representatives will be matched with appropriate Korean representatives and scheduled with one-on-one appointments from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the World Trade Center, Northern Avenue, Boston. For information on participating Korean companies, their products and interests visit the Korean Small and Medium Business Administrations web site at www.koreasme.com and click on the Korean SMI Trade & Investment Delegation 2000 icon, or call Massports trade representatives John Trogolo or Kevin Henehan at 617-478-4100.
