The Massachusetts Port Authority announced today that the 1999 Massport Annual Report is available on-line for the first time ever. The annual report may be accessed at Massports award-winning web site www.massport.com. The Authority elected to take advantage of the technology available to reach the largest audience possible.
The overwhelming success of our new web site encouraged us to move beyond the standard format this year, said Virginia Buckingham, executive director and CEO of Massport. More and more of our customers are getting information through the Internet, so this is a natural next step.
The Massport web site is customer-focused and the on-line annual report was designed to complement this format and present information in a simple, straightforward manner.
Massport produces an annual report each year that is distributed to approximately 4,000 businesses and individuals. The new on-line version will reach a much larger audience. The current web site receives approximately 3.5 million hits per month, generated by over 150,000 visitors.
The annual reports format was designed by RainCastle Communications, Inc. of Newton, who partnered with NetNumina Solutions to create Massports new web site. The new format will allow Massport to update information and statistics over the course of the year.
The on-line annual report will allow customers to scan and select areas of the annual report they are interested in (financials, Logan Airport, the Port of Boston) and print specific pages as they desire a hard copy, said Joey Cuzzi, director of communications.
Massports web site has won many awards including the Massachusetts Interactive Media Council Best of Show, the American Association of Port Authorities Award of Excellence, first place in the Airport Operators Council Excellence in Communication category, and the New York Festival grand award for interactive media.
