Logan Express Breaks Record; Ridership on Massport Bus Service Increases 5.4% Despite Ailing Economy

Massport officials announced today that use of Logan Express services increased by over 60,000 passengers in 2002, a 5.4% increase from 2001. In total, 1.18 million travelers used the Logan Express services in 2002 breaking the previous all-time high set in 2000.

Use of the Braintree Logan Express totaled 513,475, an increase of 2.4%. Framingham provided service to 385,187 passengers, a 2.1% decrease. Woburn shuttled 234,422 passengers, an increase of 8.7%. And Peabody carried 49,255 passengers in its first full year of operation.
"At Massport, our passengers and their satisfaction are a top priority. These record-setting numbers prove that we have a service that provides a high level of customer satisfaction and repeat business," said Massport CEO Craig P. Coy.

The first Logan Express was established in 1986 as part of a mitigation agreement by Massport to increase high occupancy vehicle ridership. Logan Express offers park and ride non-stop busing to and from Logan Airport with secure 24-hour parking. The service helps to reduce traffic congestion and improve convenience for passengers.
