Boston Logan Braces for February School Vacation Blizzard
Savings of 66% off Weekly Parking Rate at Popular Logan Express Sites
BOSTON – February school vacation for Boston Logan International Airport means one thing: School children and their families descending on the airport like snowflakes in a blizzard.
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is expecting increased passenger travel at Boston Logan during February as schools in Massachusetts and all of New England close for vacation and the airport enters its nineteenth straight month of passenger growth. Massport advises travelers to check with their airline for real time flight information and to allow themselves additional time to get to the airport.
The February school vacation week is one of the busiest weeks for Logan's parking garages. As an alternative to driving to and from Boston Logan, Massport offers convenient express bus service from Braintree (south), Framingham (west), Peabody and Woburn (north). Full service bus terminals and secure parking are available at each location. Children under 12 and active military personnel traveling in uniform ride for free.
To help families on vacation and reduce private automobile trips to the airport, Massport is offering a special Logan Express parking rate for February vacation of $22 – a 66% savings over the standard weekly rate --between February 17 and February 28, 2011. Travelers must enter a Logan Express parking lot between 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, February 17 through 11:59 p.m. Monday, February 28 to be eligible for the special parking rate. A vehicle staying longer than 14 days will revert to the standard parking rate after the discount has been applied. Parking may be limited in Framingham. Boston Logan was ranked as the "Easiest Airport to Get To" by the business travel website, aviation.com for the variety of transportation options available to passengers. These include Logan Express, airport courtesy shuttles, water taxis, and the MBTA Blue Line and Silver Line service between Logan and South Station and the Red Line.
With Logan's cell phone waiting lot, meeting an arriving flight no longer means circling the airport roadways. The lot is open 24 hours a day and is conveniently located just minutes from the terminals at its new location located at the intersection of Hotel Drive and Service Road, near the airport Gulf Station Drivers are asked to stay no longer than 30 minutes and to wait with their vehicles. Commercial vehicles are prohibited from parking at the cell lot. Drivers can call 800-23-LOGAN for up-to-date airline and parking information.
As an added customer service, Massport makes parking updates available via email based on dates of travel. When parking conditions change, the customer who subscribed for updates during that time period receives an email update.
