Massport and BAA Boston Develop New $12 Million Concession Program
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today announced the opening of three new restaurants at Boston Logan International Airport. Massport and its airport management partner BAA Boston developed the new concession program at Terminal B, at a cost of $12 million that includes renovations to nearly 10,000 square feet of terminal space.
Opening this month are Cosi, Villa Pizza, and McDonalds. At Cosi, Logan customers will enjoy a menu featuring specialty sandwiches, freshly tossed salads, and flatbread pizzas. If travelers are looking for old-world recipes, the Italian specialty chain Villa Pizza offers the finest fresh baked pizza, homemade pasta, stuffed strombolis, specialty salads and fresh made Italian entrees. And for classic fast food, McDonalds is now offering a full menu at its new location.
"We are very proud to be unveiling this important chapter in the continued evolution of concessions at Boston Logan,” said Michael Caro, Vice President of BAA Boston. “This is a big step for us, along with our Massport partners, where we are now offering our traveling customers with a first taste of the new Airmall offerings that are coming, while meeting their demands for quality and variety at regular mall prices.”
The second phase of Logan’s Terminal B renovations, scheduled to open in mid-November, includes Todd English’s Bonfire Restaurant that blends Argentinean, European and American steakhouse influences; Roger Berkowitz’s new concept -- Legal C Bar, an urban seafood bar appealing to a late-20s and early-30s crowd; UFood Grill that offers a back-to-basics approach to tasty, healthful cooking, where everything served is high quality—from choice meats to natural and organic ingredients; and Ryo Asian Fusion, specializing in sushi and featuring popular entrees from Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and India.
“We are very pleased to offer our customers a fine selection of new restaurants,” said Edward C. Freni, Massport’s Director of Aviation. “With the addition of Bonfire and Legal C Bar we are continuing the tradition of highlighting local and regional flavors and adding variety to our restaurant offerings and creating a sense of place and flavor to the concession program.”
Boston Logan serves as the gateway to the six-state New England region with a population of over 14 million and offers nonstop service to 79 domestic and 36 international destinations. Boston Logan also has more low fare flights than any airport in New England and in 2006 handled nearly 28 million passengers.
