The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today announced the selection of Massachusetts-based Airport Auditing & Information Systems LLC (AAIS) to provide an integrated system designed to automatically identify and record every aircraft using Bedford's Hanscom Field. PlaneSightd, a system using multiple cameras strategically placed around Hanscom Field's two runways, will capture and process images of aircraft using the airport. By matching aircraft tail numbers (from the pictures) to a database, the system will help reduce administrative burdens by accurately producing comprehensive reports for revenue collection, operational records, and validation of FAA data.
"Maintaining Hanscom Field as a premier aviation facility requires a strong investment in the latest technology," said Massport CEO Craig P. Coy. "We are pleased to have found a Massachusetts company to keep this full-service airport on the forefront of innovation and efficiency."
Through its automatic billing feature, the integrated system of cameras and software will ensure efficient collection of Massport fees while eliminating the need to record the data manually.
"We are excited about partnering with Massport," said AAIS president, Bob Zailckas. "Our technology is uniquely designed to enable enhanced management and create greater efficiencies. Once deployed, PlaneSightd will allow Hanscom Field to be one of the first airports in the U.S. to have an electronic camera system capable of automated invoicing. Massport represents the company's first commercial customer and we appreciate its continued investment in Massachusetts-based technology companies such as ours."
AAIS is currently working with the Florida Department of Transportation to install the PlaneSightd system at the Tallahassee Regional Airport with the potential of expanding to another 130 locations in Florida.
