Douglas Husid is the Co-Managing Director of the Boston law firm Goulston & Storrs, which also has offices in New York, Washington and Beijing. Husid has served in that capacity since 1997. He has practiced law in both the public and private sectors, and has far-ranging expertise in real estate development, large project permitting, statutory, regulatory and financing issues in the transportation field, and legislation.
His work includes representing Harvard University in the master plan development of the Allston campus, the Boston Redevelopment Authority in connection with the development of the Boston Convention Center, Dana Farber Cancer Institute in the permitting and construction of the new Yawkey clinical and research facility and Partners Health in multiple projects. Husid also represents a number of private developers and has been named one of the “Best Lawyers in America’’ by the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession for three years in a row and Chambers USA named Husid one of “America’s Leading Business Lawyers.”
Before joining Goulston & Storrs, Husid served for four years as Chief of Staff for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation and Construction (EOTC), where he supervised and coordinated the agency’s legal, policy and administrative staff and oversaw its environmental, legislative and regulatory activities.
Husid received a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1973 and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1976. He was President for many years of Green Century Funds, an environmentally oriented group of mutual funds and currently serves on the Board of CERES, a national network of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies and investors to address sustainability challenges. He lives in Newton, Mass.
