Convention Update
Over 35,000 DNC delegates and media are expected to travel through Logan International Airport this weekend, with the busiest travel day expected for July 30. The Massachusetts Port Authority joins the airlines and concessions serving Logan in wishing all of our customers and DNC Delegates a very safe and happy flight. Thank you for choosing Logan International Airport and your patience during this historic event for Boston and the Commonwealth.
To help make your travel as pleasant as possible, Massport offers the following suggestions:
Getting to the Airport:
- Give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport, arrive early, check in and relax. Logans food and gift concessions will be open as usual during this time.
- Take advantage of Massports Logan Express to and from the airport. On Friday 7/30, a regular weekday schedule will be in effect for all routes with extra buses on standby.
- Taking the MBTA to Logan's new Airport Station on the Blue Line is another option. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has a new policy of searching luggage bigger than a briefcase or pocketbook, but T officials said people with big bags will be allowed to use the system if they have proof -- such as an airline ticket -- that they are headed to the airport.
- Check Logan flight conditions before you leave by using Massports Flight Tracker Service by clicking here.
- Water transportation is another convenient alternative to get Logan. From the South Shore, MBTA commuter boat services will be operating from Quincy and Hull to Boston and Logan Airport.
- Before heading to Logan, watch local news reports or check in with one of the traffic monitoring services to determine the your best route.
At the Airport:
- Look for Massport Public Information staff and volunteers to help you get where you need to go.
- Allow for busy parking lots, and congested drop-off and pick-up curb areas.
- Please remember that unattended vehicles are not allowed at curbside.
- Expect longer lines than usual at ticket counters and security checkpoints.
- Please be sure that your luggage is clearly labeled, and be ready to answer any questions about your items.
- Be prepared to present a government-issued photo ID (such as a drivers license) when checking luggage, and remember to check with your airline in advance for their requirements on the number and size of carry-ons or other baggage.
- Remember to watch your luggage at all times. Be aware of your surroundings at the security checkpoints, promptly retrieve your baggage at the carousels, and do not leave your suitcases and/or carry-ons unattended at any time.
- Be aware that some metals, like jewelry, will slow the security screening process. Please show consideration for other travelers and remove these items prior to entering the screening area.
- Wait to wrap any gifts and souvenirs until you reach your destination.
