Directions to Logan

Alternative Routes and Transportation Options to and from Boston Logan International Airport

Due to ongoing repairs to the I-90 Connector Tunnel, Massport has compiled the following information to help you get to and from Boston Logan International Airport. For up-to-date I-90 roadway information, tune to Turnpike Radio 1700 AM on your radio.

Roadways

  • Westbound I-90/Ted Williams Tunnel ramp at exit 24 in South Boston to I-93 North and South is open.
  • A single lane in the I-90 East Connector Tunnel is open. Click here for I-90 East Directions to Boston Logan International Airport.
  • Due to ongoing repairs to the Connector Tunnel, access to I-90 East and West continues to be restricted from the Ted Williams Tunnel.

BOSTON LOGAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Massachusetts Turnpike has announced that the westbound I-90/Ted Williams Tunnel ramp at exit 24 in South Boston to I-93 North and South has reopened.

I-90 East and I-90 West through the I-90 Connector Tunnel to Logan Airport remains closed from I-93 in Boston to the Ted Williams Tunnel. Massport urges I-90 travelers who normally use the Ted Williams Tunnel to and from Boston Logan International Airport to consider alternative forms of transportation. Travelers are advised to allow for extra travel time. Parking is available at the airport and travelers should click here for parking information and current parking conditions.

LOGAN TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES

Taxi (Cab Share)
Because of heavy congestion during the Connector Tunnel closure, travelers may experience longer than normal waits for taxi service departing Logan Airport, especially during peak periods. Taxis are available at the ARRIVAL level of all terminals. As a courtesy to others and to ease taxi wait times, Massport urges everyone to share taxis with their fellow customers whenever possible while traffic emergency conditions continue

Logan Express: Logan Express provides service every half hour between Logan Airport and Woburn, Braintree and Framingham, and hourly service between Logan and Peabody. Buses have been added to meet the anticipated increase in demand and maintain the posted schedule.

MBTA TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS

MBTA Silver Line
The MBTA SilverLine provides service between Logan Airport and South Station every 10 minutes. The MBTA has added buses to maintain 10 minute headways.

MBTA Blue Line
The MBTA Blue Line provides subway service between Boston and the Airport Station. Massport has increased frequencies on the Route #22 and Route #33 free Shuttle Bus service between the Blue Line and all airport terminals. The MBTA has increased service on the Blue Line to meet added demand.

MBTA Harbor Express
The MBTA has added Harbor Express commuter boat service between Hull, Quincy and Logan Airport. Massport has added buses on the Route #66 free Shuttle Bus service to meet increased passenger demand.

WATER TRANSPORTATION
Several water taxi companies provide on-call service to points throughout Downtown Boston from the Logan dock: ALTERNATE ROUTES TO/FROM LOGAN

When entering the airport, note that the inbound roadway system consists of an upper level for departures and a lower level for arrivals. All parking is accessed from the roadway on the lower/arrivals level. Passengers are being detoured to alternate routes. Therefore, Massport is urging all Logan travelers to use public transportation whenever possible. For alternative routes to Logan Airport see below:

ARRIVING TO Logan Airport
From the West (I-90 E):
  • Take I-90 eastbound.
  • Continue into the I-90 tunnel east through the I-90/I-93 interchange.
  • After you enter the I-90 east tunnel, look for the South Boston Exit 25 signs; take Exit 25.
  • As you travel near the top of the ramp, bear right to go to Logan Airport.
  • At the top of the ramp, stop at stop sign.
  • Turn left on Massport Haul Road. Travel a short distance; bear left at fork in the road.
  • Follow signs to Logan Airport into Ted Williams Tunnel.
  • Travel through tunnel roughly 1 mile.
  • Bear to the right, and look for signs to various airline terminals.
From the South (I-93 N):
Option 1:
  • Take exit 18 merge onto Frontage Road
  • At second signal take a right onto the South Boston Bypass Road (this road turns into the Massport Haul Road)
  • Follow signs to Ted Williams Tunnel/Logan Airport
Option 2:
  • Take I-93 North to Exit 23.
  • Follow signs to Callahan Tunnel and Logan Airport
From the North:
  • No Detours, use I-93 South to Exit 24B (Airport) or Route 1A South to Logan Airport.

DEPARTING FROM Logan Airport

To I-90 W:
  • Exit Ted Williams Tunnel at Exit 25 to South Boston Surface Streets.
  • Take a left on Congress Street, another left on West Service Road and a right onto the South Boston Bypass Road.
  • Take a right onto northbound Frontage Road to the I-90 West on-ramp.
