Sumner Tunnel to Close for the Next Three Weekends

The Sumner Tunnel will be closed for the next three weekends beginning at 10:00 pm Friday, September 14, 2007 through 5 am on Monday, September 17, 2007 and continuing on Friday, September 21, 2007 through Monday, September 24, 2007 and again on Friday, September 28, 2007 through Monday, October 1, 2007.

The weekend work allows ceiling repairs to continue for a shorter duration with less nighttime disruption to drivers.

One-lane daytime closures may need to take place in the tunnel Monday through Thursday to continue the work. When the Sumner Tunnel is closed, motorists destined for I-93 North, from Logan Airport, should use the Ted Williams Tunnel (I-90 West), and take I-90 Exit 24 to I-93 North.
