Boston Logan Marks One Year Anniversary of Parking Passport Gold
Business Travelers Find Gold in Premium Parking Service

September 20, 2007

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today marked the one year anniversary of its popular Parking Passport Gold premium parking service at Boston Logan International Airport . Parking Passport Gold allows travelers guaranteed parking at the airport’s Central Parking and Terminal B garages.

“Parking Passport Gold has exceeded our expectations with more than 2500 customers enrolled since September 2006,” said Massport CEO and Executive Director Thomas J. Kinton, Jr. “Business travelers and frequent flyers plan their time carefully and often ask how much time should be allowed for parking? Passport Gold provides participants with the certainty that parking is always guaranteed close to their terminal.”

Designed to accommodate the needs of business travelers, airport officials are considering placing a cap on the number of subscribers or establishing a waiting list to ensure that the program does not become oversubscribed. Gold parking areas are located in designated areas of Central Parking on level 3 and the Terminal B Garage on level 1. Parking Passport Gold guarantees parking for an extra $5 a day, plus an initial $200 enrollment fee with $100 annual renewal.

“This is an invaluable service because I no longer need to worry about where to park at the airport,” said Jesse Keefe, Vice President at New England Development. “As a frequent business traveler with an intense schedule, I depend on a high degree of predictability to maintain my travel agenda. Parking Passport Gold affords me that and removes a level of anxiety while trying to catch a flight.”

At Logan’s Central Parking garage three new parking levels, totaling 2,880 new parking spaces have been opened as part of a recently completed $217 million renovation project. Other renovations and upgrades to the garage include new elevators and stair towers; a new exterior façade; improved signage; better pedestrian circulation and transfers; enhanced security and emergency features; and automated parking pay stations for express exiting and reserved parking for hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles.

Boston Logan serves as the gateway to the six-state New England region with a population of over 14 million and offers nonstop service to 79 domestic and 36 international destinations. Boston Logan also has more low fare flights than any airport in New England and in 2006 handled nearly 28 million passengers.
