Finnair to Add Seasonal Service to Helsinki from Boston Logan International Airport
Service to Connect New Englanders to Europe’s Nordic Countries

February 7. 2008

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today announced the return of seasonal service to Helsinki, Finland from Boston Logan International Airport starting June 9. The new nonstop service will be provided by Finnair to their Helsinki hub, on Mondays and Wednesdays, through August 27, 2008 on Boeing 757 aircraft.

“We’re very happy to welcome Finnair’s seasonal service back to Boston Logan,” said Massport’s Director of Aviation Edward C. Freni. “Seasonal service is an important indicator that the leisure travel market is healthy and that the airline industry considers Boston an important city to serve.” Finnair has provided service to Boston since 2005.

Finnair is one of the world's oldest operating airlines established in 1923. Its operations focus on transporting passengers between Europe and Asia, via their Helsinki hub. Finnair’s service from Logan, the easiest airport in the nation to get to, will provide travelers easy access to Finnair's extensive northern and eastern European route network including their newest scheduled destinations, Ljubljana, Slovenia; Bucharest, Hungary; and Gdansk, Poland. For information on fares, schedules and reservations visit: www.finnair.com.

Boston Logan’s $4.4 billion modernization program, including new terminals, parking facilities, roadways and airport concessions, has transformed the airport into a world-class facility capable of meeting the needs of local travelers and businesses in the 21st Century. In 2007 Boston Logan was ranked by Aviation.com as being the easiest airport in the nation to get to.

Boston Logan serves as the gateway to the six-state New England region with a population of over 14 million and offers nonstop service to 77 domestic and 32 international destinations. Boston Logan also has more low fare flights than any airport in New England and in 2007 handled 28 million passengers.
