Expanded Summer Service Offered on Braintree Logan Express; Pilot Program will Determine if Demand Warrants Expanded Service

July 3, 2007

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today announced expanded summer service on its Braintree Logan Express bus service from Boston Logan International Airport. Starting July 1, through September 30, 2007 an additional late night bus will run on the busy route. With the expansion, the last Braintree bus departing Boston Logan will now be at 12:45 a.m., instead of 12 midnight seven days a week. On Saturdays, there will be an additional departure at 11:30 p.m. one half hour later than previously -- and 12:45 a.m.

Customer surveys indicate a demand in Braintree for late night service so to gauge that demand weve introduced this pilot program, said Massports Director of Aviation Edward C. Freni. Braintree Logan Express has long been supported by South Shore residents with more than 500,000 travelers in 2006 choosing to leave their vehicles at home and to take the bus to the airport.

Braintree Logan Express departs Boston Logan, weekdays starting at 6:30 a.m. On Saturday and Sunday service starts a 7:00 a.m.

Leaving Braintree for the airport, weekday early bird service to Logan is at 3:45 a.m. with service at 4:00 a.m. continuing every half hour until 11:00 p.m. Saturday early bird service is at 4:00 a.m., 4:30 a.m., and 5:30 a.m. with service every hour from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday early bird service to Logan is at 4:00 a.m., 4:30 a.m., and 5:30 a.m. and hourly service from 6:00 a.m. to 12 noon and every half hour from noon to 11:00 p.m.

Braintree Logan Express provides non-stop bus service to and from the airport and is located off Route 37 on Forbes Road, across from the South Shore Plaza. In addition to Braintree, Massport also offers Logan Express service from Framingham, Woburn and Peabody. For more information on Logan Express visit www.flylogan.com.

Boston Logan serves as the gateway to the six-state New England region with a population of over 14 million and offers nonstop service to 79 domestic and 37 international destinations. Boston Logan also has more low fare flights than any airport in New England and in 2006 handled nearly 28 million passengers.
