News Boston Logan International Airport Prepares for Heavy Passenger Traffic During the Thanksgiving Holiday November 16 , 2007 The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is preparing for a busy Thanksgiving holiday at Boston Logan International Airport and today announced a discounted parking program at the airport’s Central Parking Garage, Terminal B Garage and Terminal E lots to accommodate leisure travelers using the airport next week. Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 3:00 a.m. through Sunday Nov. 25, at 3:00 a.m. travelers will receive the economy lot parking rate for a daily savings of $6. The discounted rate will be in effect no matter how long you park at the airport as long as the driver enters a parking facility at the airport during the dates and times listed above. The discount will be applied automatically when you pay for parking. In 2006, more than 550,000 passengers used Boston Logan during the week of Thanksgiving and this year that number is expected to increase by 2.5%. During the busiest days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, Massport administrative employees will lend a hand to the airport’s public service department by volunteering inside the terminals and curb side areas to assist travelers and direct customers to their airline check-in and TSA security checkpoint. For travelers who do not plan to drive to the airport, Massport is adding additional Logan Express buses to accommodate increased ridership. Communities served are Braintree (south), Framingham (west), Peabody and Woburn (north). Full-service bus terminals and parking are available at each location. Children under 12 ride free and active military personnel traveling in uniform may ride for free on any Logan Express service. For those travelers taking the T, additional buses will be added to the on-airport routes to the MBTA station to cover increased ridership on the MBTA Blue Line. Travelers are encouraged to allow for additional time to arrive at Logan and board their aircraft during this busy holiday period. Travelers should monitor www.flylogan.com for updated airline information. Travelers should also familiarize themselves with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) carry-on luggage regulations to help lessen delays at security checkpoints. For more information on traveling to and from Boston Logan call 1-800-23-LOGAN (TTY: 1-800-262-3335), and for parking information tune to 1650 AM on the radio. Boston Logan’s $4.4 billion modernization program, including new terminals, parking facilities, roadways and airport concessions, has transformed the airport into a world-class facility capable of meeting the needs of local travelers and businesses in the 21st Century. The airport serves as the gateway to the six-state New England region with a population of over 14 million and offers nonstop service to 81 domestic and 37 international destinations. Boston Logan also has more low fare flights than any airport in New England and in 2006 handled nearly 28 million passengers.
