Logan International Airport Connects with the Boston Press Photographers Association
Award Winning Photography Exhibit opens at New England’s Gateway to the World

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today unveiled a photo exhibition at Boston Logan International Airport by the Boston Press Photographers Association. The exhibit, depicting images of life and sports, displays the work of some of Boston’s best photo journalists. The Boston Press Photographers Association was established in 1926 and is the oldest press and television photographer's association in the United States.

“We’re happy to host the Boston Press Photographers Association exhibit at Boston Logan,” said Massport’s Director of Aviation Edward C. Freni. “With the $4.4 billion modernization of Logan Airport complete, we have more opportunities to provide customer service benefits to the millions of passengers who use this airport every year. This includes the opportunity to work with art councils, cultural groups and educational institutions to showcase the tremendous talent that exists here in Boston, and elsewhere.”

Today’s display is the first of a two part exhibit at Boston Logan featuring award winning images by the Boston Press Photographers Association. The exhibit, located in the walkway between Terminals B and C, will run through Labor Day weekend.
 
The second exhibition, scheduled to open later this year, will display Pulitzer Prize winning photographs and other award winning images from travel, sports, features, and portraits, chosen by a committee of photo journalists from the Boston Press Photographers Association and Massport.

Boston Logan serves as the gateway to the six-state New England region with a population of more than 14 million and offers nonstop service to 77 domestic and 32 international destinations. Boston Logan also has more low fare flights than any airport in New England and in 2007 handled 28.1 million passengers.

Boston Logan’s $4.4 billion modernization program, including new terminals, parking facilities, roadways and airport concessions, has transformed the airport into a world-class facility capable of meeting the needs of local travelers and businesses in the 21st Century. In 2007 Boston Logan was ranked number one as the “Easiest Airport to Get To” by the business travel website Aviation.com.
