Massport website continues to collect awards; Honors recognize the agency's commitment to the Internet

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is on a winning streak, collecting international and local awards for its consumer-friendly website which provides travelers with up-to-date information on flights, traffic, and weather. In less than half a year, Massports website has already received:
  • the American Association of Port Authoritys (AAPA) Award of Excellence for a port homepage;
  • the Airport Council Internationals (ACI) award for best website;
  • and was named the Grand Winner of the New York Festivals 1999 Interactive Multimedia Competition, an international event where Massport beat out Mercedes Benz, NASA, American Express, Sapient, and Audi.
Last evening, Massport collected three more prizes at the fourth annual Massachusetts Interactive Media Council (MIMC) awards ceremony. The Massport site was awarded the "best of show," "best use of technology," and "best business to consumer marketing online site."

Massports website (www.massport.com) was launched in June of 1999 and is designed to provide all users with real-time information, including updates on construction, airline arrivals and departures, tips on parking and avoiding traffic, and details on bidding and professional opportunities. Weekly, the website receives approximately 1 million hits and averages more than 70,000 unique visitors. During the recent Hurricane Floyd, the website was visited by 150,000 individual users over just 36 hours.

The award-winning site was designed and developed for Massport by RainCastle Communications and NetNumina Solutions.
