Fish-Processing Complex
Good news for proponents of the working port and Boston fish processors. Massports Board recently approved moving ahead with construction of a $9 million fish-processing complex on the North Jetty, the easternmost section of the South Boston waterfront.
Currently, that area is being used to dump dirt excaated in the Central Artery and Tunnel project. But Massport is committed to building fishing industry facilities on at least 8 acres of the 40 acre North Jetty property.
Pilot Development of Quincy will manage the project. A third of the planned 60,000 square foot building, set on 3.5 acres, is projected to be occupied for five years by a Central Artery project cement testing laboratory.
