Boston Logan International Airport Launches Parking Passport Gold; Travelers Guaranteed Parking at Terminal B Garage

September 15 , 2006

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today launched Parking PASSport Gold, a premium parking service that will allow travelers a guaranteed parking space on the lower level of the Terminal B garage at Boston Logan International Airport regardless of the day, time or capacity.

As Boston Logan’s $4 billion modernization project nears completion, one of its prime components – expanding parking capacity – is in full swing with construction nearly complete for three new parking levels, totaling 2,880 new parking spaces, being added at Boston Logan’s Central Garage. Other renovations and upgrades to the existing garage, include: new garage elevators and stair towers; a new exterior façade; improved signage and graphics; better pedestrian circulation and transfers; improved utilities; enhanced security and emergency features; and automated parking pay stations for express exiting.

“Frequent flyers plan their time carefully and what we hear most often is ‘how much time should be allowed to find parking at the airport,’” said Massport CEO and Executive Director Thomas J. Kinton, Jr. “What Parking PASSport Gold provides is the guarantee that a space will be available. That certainty is a commodity that frequent flyers have long sought and I am very happy that the technology exists and is now available at Boston Logan International Airport.”

Designed to accommodate the needs of business travelers, Parking PASSPort Gold guarantees a space on the lower level of the Terminal B garage for an extra $5 a day, plus an initial $200 enrollment fee.

Boston Logan International Airport offers domestic service to 78 destinations and international service to 33 destinations.  In 2005, the airport accommodated 27 million passengers and generated approximately $7 billion in total economic impact to the region and $559 million in state and local taxes.
