Massport Seeks Public Comment on PFC Application Process

June 10, 2005

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has commenced the process of applying to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for authority to increase the passenger facility charge (PFC) paid by certain enplaning passengers at Boston-Logan International Airport (Logan Airport) from $3.00 to $4.50. The FAA has issued regulations that require public agencies such as Massport to make available for comment a notice of intent to file an application for authority to impose or use a PFC or to amend a previously approved record of decision regarding PFCs.

Massport is making available the Airline PFC Consultation Booklet dated June 8, 2005 regarding Massports intent to file an application with the FAA to increase the PFC at Logan Airport to $4.50. Click here to access the Consultation Booklet. In addition, Massport is making available the Airline Consultation Meeting Presentation made to the air carriers operating at Logan Airport on June 9, 2005. Click here to access the Presentation.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit comments concerning Massports proposed PFC application, either electronically to btaylor@massport.com, or by mail to Ms. Elizabeth L. Taylor, Director of Finance, Massachusetts Port Authority, One Harborside Drive, Suite 200S, East Boston, MA 02128. Comments received by July 11, 2005 (32 days after the initial posting of this notice) will be considered by Massport in its application and will be included in Massports application to the FAA. Comments submitted after that date will be considered by Massport, to the extent possible.
