 News Runway 4R/22L to Close for Lighting Replacement 9/28/04 The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is in the process of replacing the centerline lighting in Runway 4R/22L as part of regular airfield maintenance. The runway will be closed from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am nightly. The lighting maintenance work is expected to last through November, weather permitting. In addition to the nightly 4R/22L closure, on three weekends Massport will close Runway 15R/33L during the same hours to accommodate work at the runway intersection. Weather permitting, the three weekends that both Runway 4R/22L and 15R/33L will be closed from 10:00pm to 6:00 am are: October 2-3, October 9-10 and October 16-17. During the closures, other runway configurations will be used to accommodate operations at Logan. As a result, residents from neighboring communities may experience a slightly increased or decreased number of overflights during the project.
