Massport to Conduct Public Hearing to Amend Regulations to Increase Parking Fines

December 6, 2004

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in South Boston from 6:00 PM 7:00 PM to receive public comments on a proposed regulation that would increase parking fines at Boston-Logan International Airport, L.G. Hanscom Field in Bedford, and other Massport properties in East Boston and South Boston. The hearing is part of the state rulemaking process which Massport initiated in November 2004.

The proposal includes new rates for fines related to illegal parking on Massport properties. The revisions will update the categories of offenses, and increase fines such that they continue to serve as a deterrent to illegal parking. The existing parking fines published in Title 740, Code of Massachusetts Regulations, have not been increased in fifteen years.

An interpreter for the hearing-impaired will be provided at the hearing if a request is made to Tiffany Brown-Grier, the Authoritys ADA Coordinator, by January 6, 2005, at 617-568-3190 or 617-568-7411 (TTY). Written comments may be submitted at any time during the comment period to:
    Robert Lagergren
    Parking Clerk
    Massachusetts Port Authority
    One Harborside Drive
    East Boston, MA 02128-2909
    Or by e-mail to: rlagergren@massport.com

The public comment period for the rulemaking will remain open through 5:00PM February 4, 2005.
