Massachusetts Port Authority Presents Boston Landmarks Orchestra In A Return Performance At East Bostons Piers Park; Cultural Highlight takes place from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2004

August 13,2004

Concertgoers and movie buffs take note -- on August 29, 2004, the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) will present an exciting evening of music when the acclaimed Boston Landmarks Orchestra returns to Piers Park. Featuring music from classic movies, this years summer concert begins at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at 8:00 p.m.

With Charles Ansbacher conducting Classics from the Movies, audience members will enjoy selections from such favorites as: 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Godfather Part III, A Clockwork Orange and Schindlers List.

This will be a terrific evening, promises Craig Coy, Massport CEO. Imagine listening to wonderful music while relaxing in a beautiful park on the harbor, set against the Boston skyline at sunset. Massport is proud to once again take part in presenting one of Bostons best cultural offerings to local neighborhood residents.

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra performs free summer concerts at sites that celebrate historical, geographical and architectural settings in Eastern Massachusetts. Last year, hundreds of people gathered when The Boston Landmarks Orchestra made its debut at East Bostons award-winning park. Toting blankets, chairs and picnic baskets, concertgoers reveled in the sounds of classical music including selections by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Gershwin and Rogers & Hammerstein.

East Bostons Piers Park is a 6.5-acre parcel located on East Bostons historic waterfront, overlooking Boston Harbor. Massport built the pristine park in 1996 to create more green space in East Boston. The park features strolling walkways, a 600-foot pier lined with pavilions and benches, an amphitheatre, a sailing center and a childrens playground.

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra is a non-profit organization founded in January 2001 that relies on support from foundations, corporations and individuals.
