Nomar Goes To Bat For Logan Airport

October 1, 2003

It's a double-header week for All-star shortstop Nomar Garciaparra. Not only do the Red Sox travel west to take on the Oakland A's in the opening round of the American League playoffs, but the popular Nomar is also the voice that greets travelers, beginning this week, along the walkway that connects Terminal B with Central Parking at Logan International Airport.

Nomar welcomes travelers with the following message:
Hello, this is Nomar Garciaparra of the Boston Red Sox welcoming you to Logan International Airport. Youre currently passing through one of our new climate controlled passenger bridges, just one of the many exciting improvements helping to make Logan one of the worlds all-star airports. Look for other exciting changes, including new shops, new customer services, and especially our new international terminal helping connect New England with the world. So whether you call Boston home or are just passing through, we wish you a very pleasant trip.

Nomar also greets callers to Massport 1-800-23-LOGAN information line. Massport drafted Nomar to be a part of Massports customer service team at Logan and help educate travelers about the improvement taking place at Logan. Massport plans to unveil other celebrity voice recordings welcoming travelers, including Boston Pops Conductor Keith Lockhart.

So keep your ears tuned into the big game tonight and the next time you are at Logan listen for Nomar.

GO SOX!!
